Alamo Ruleser & Scenario

3/20/2023

If you watched our 8-player Alamo wargame, then you saw us playing an updated version of the original 1980s game "The Alamo Ruleser" by Rich Hasenauer and Ron Prillaman. The entire rule set fits on a ruler!

The original 18" single-sided ruler has been updated and revised into a double sided 10" version you can print and fold at home. David Good developed the new version and kindly offered to make it available for you to try!

And in addition to the free game, we're also posting the complete scenario. It includes the exact order of battle and scenario rules we used in the YouTube video, including a full layout of the Alamo complex. Once again, we want to give a special "THANK YOU" to Rich, Ron, and David for making this freely available to wargamers around the world! The 3 page PDF can be downloaded below:

March 31, 2023 UPDATE: A new version of the Alamo Ruleser (linked above) has updated some typos and offered a clearer explanation for recycling Mexican reserves.

Outstanding game. Texans did much better. Would be interesting to see what would have happen if the other forces had made it to the Alamo rather than surrendering

Hello fantastic game. More interested in learning about the rules used. Regarding casualties for the Mexicans. The rules talk about 18+ casualties have to roll 1d6 with a 5+ to pass. is this 18 figure casualties or 18 casualty markers

Josh--a die roll to bring on more Mexican units is only required once a column has 18+ MARKERS. A marker is only placed when columns are recycled. So the Mexicans have to take a ton of losses before this becomes an issue for them. And each column tracks it's own losses and markers.

Another LWTV classic. Not only a very nice video of an excellent game, but the full scenario and free rules as well. Many thanks.

Phenomenal game & rules! Got me buying a whole bunch of the IMEX Alamo figs in 20mm.

Question: During the video of 8-player game, y'all mention Crockett was taken down by a "lucky shot"? Where can I find that on the Ruleser?

Was lucky and got to play this game at historicon 24. Excellent time. Beautiful table, and models. My Mexican force took 2 walls. Can't rank this high enough
