Gaul, 57 BC. After wintering his legions deep in Gallic territory, Julius Caesar learns that a fierce Belgic warlord, Boduognatus, is gathering regional tribes to resist the Roman advance. Caesar leads some 40,000 troops into Belgic territory to seek out and destroy the tribes before they can unite. Lurking beyond the River Sabis, Boduognatus is well aware of Roman intentions and plots to ambush the invaders as they march up the ancient road, crossing the shallow river. He amasses over 40,000 Nervian, Viromanduian, and Atrebatian warriors, with the Aduatuci tribe en route to join him. Will Caesar stumble into the trap?
