Little Wars TV has been "off air" since April, when we wrapped our our Season 2 slate with a World War I episode. Since then, it's been radio silence on the YouTube channel, and plenty of you have left comments or sent emails asking when we're coming back. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and the photo below speaks to what's happening this summer around the world. But just because we're hunkered down wearing masks doesn't mean we haven't been hard at work in the trenches. In fact, our club is laying the groundwork for our biggest operation yet....
The Club is Open Again!
 | We shuttered the doors to our weekly gaming club back in early March 2020 when COVID-19 started making the news in the US. Months passed without any club gaming (and thus, without any filming or production on Little Wars TV). In late June, the club finally re-opened, though we are now wearing masks and have taken some other precautions to allow for in-person wargaming. This cautious return means we have been able to resume filming on Little Wars TV. So, YES, we will be back with new video content! |
Something Big is Brewing...
Over the last six months we've developed a new strategy for the channel--a strategy we believe could allow Little Wars TV to be a viable, long-term project for our wargaming club for years to come. You'll hear a lot more about that strategy in the coming months, but one pillar of this plan does include a Patreon campaign. If you're unfamiliar with this popular platform, Patreon allows fans to directly support content creators with a small monthly contribution. In turn, creators typically offer unique rewards or perks to their patrons. Last year we surveyed our audience and found over 60% of you expressed an interest in Patreon. Ever since then we've been thinking about ways to make such a campaign worthwhile for all involved. We didn't want to rush into this with a half-baked plan, so we took a year to really think about it. We think you're going to be excited when you hear about our plans later in the year.
But a Patreon campaign is just one component of a much bigger strategy brewing in our club. Since we started Little Wars TV the #1, most consistent feedback we receive from viewers is that many of you are discovering this hobby for the first time through our videos (which is awesome!) but that you want to know how to get started. Particularly, you want to know how to get started without breaking the bank and spending a small fortune just to try out wargaming.
Lowering barriers to entry into our hobby is a huge priority for Little Wars TV. We want to see more people around the world join our community and start playing historical wargames. Now we're going to do something about it--something beyond just making YouTube videos. This is going to cost us some money (hence the Patreon campaign...), but over the last year we've been quietly laying the groundwork for a path to draw new players into the hobby. And even if you're a tabletop veteran like us, we still think you're going to love what's coming next.

When are we Back?
We have a clear plan in motion and, as part of that plan, we already have a date circled on the calendar for when Little Wars TV returns. But we aren't quite ready to announce the premiere date yet. Sometime in the next month we'll share the date right here on our website and also on on our Facebook page. And when we do return to a YouTube screen near you, we hope you'll be excited for the next chapter! Until then, stay safe.
