Over the course of two subsequent days, two rounds of latex caulk were smeared along the edges of every hill in order to smooth out the slopes and make them more gradual. Finally for the week, we used a Dremel to carve out the minor rivers that cut across the Gettysburg landscape. This completes the underlying terrain sculpting phase. Next week the real transformation begins!
There are three weeks left until we film our Gettysburg wargame event. Last week we laid out the tabletop features based on the 1868 Warren map and cut the hills. This week we've sanded down all the elevations, which are made from 1" thick polystrene insulation. Once sanded with the orbital sander, the hills were glued down and allowed to dry.
